Contract Assistant Project Manager

We are seeking an Assistant Project Manager for a short term role in Washington DC supporting the Department of Labor. This contract will run through the end of March or into early April. The rate will be based on education and experience, but is expected to be in the $40 - $45/Hr range.

All candidate must undergo and successfully attain the following security investigation: Background Investigation (BI)

The Assistant Project Manager will support the Senior Project Manager in the oversight of an agency consolidation and migration effort, which is a highly visible project for our client. This position is required to assist in overseeing complex tasks by a large team, ensuring the project logistics are managed and resourced and keeping the diverse set of stakeholders apprised of the project status.

This position is required to oversee approved project sub-tasks from inception through deployment, while monitoring work flows and aggressive deadlines.

Job Responsibilities:
· Assist in the creation and execution of project work plans and revisions as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements
· Assist in the development and maintenance of a master and individual resource plan for project tasks
· Perform Technical Writing tasks and document editing
· Assist in tracking and reporting Level of Effort (LoE) hours on a weekly basis
· Assist in baselining all project tasks and capture actual metrics for historical metrics and LoE forecasting
· Assist in the management of day-to-day operational aspects of a project and scope
· Assist in minimizing risk exposure on projects
· Communicate relevant project information to management, stakeholders, and customers as directed by the Senior Project Manager
· Resolve and/or escalate issues within a reasonable amount of time taking into consideration impact on the project.
· Ensure project documents are complete, current, and stored appropriately
· Track and maintain lessons learned and utilize lessons learned on subsequent projects
· Ensure all project tasks are properly closed out

Should understand and be comfortable with the following concepts:
· SDLC
· Configuration Management
· Change Management

Required Skills:
· Intermediate level skills in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, Visio), and MS Project.
· Intermediate level skills in Microsoft SharePoint.
· Solutions Focus: analytical and problem solving abilities.
· Business Process: Effectively applies OASAM-ITC policies and procedures, and PMBOK project methodologies.
· Collaboration: Motivates teams to work together in the most efficient manner
· Compliance: Works in accordance with and helps to enforce OASAM- ITC standard policies and procedures.
· Knowledge Transfer: Keeps track of lessons learned and shares those lessons with team members.
· Relationship Management: Consistently acknowledges and appreciates each team member's contributions.
· End-User Documentation: Experience producing end-user and technical support materials.
· Excellent time management, multi-tasking and prioritization
· Strong oral and written communication skills
· Excellent documentation skills
· Flexibility, adaptability, and ability to deal with ambiguous situations on a consistent basis
· Ability to prepare technical documents, technical presentations, and provide input in technical document review
· Ability to work independently and in groups
· Ability to work well independently or in a team setting

Experience Required:
· 3-5 years of experience supporting management of complex projects end-to-end
· 1-3+ years of recent experience in the federal sector.

Education/Certification Required:
· Must have a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Information Technology, Information Systems and Operations Management or similar from an accredited institution. Master’s Degree is preferred but not required.
