Individual will be part of the Ratings Delivery and Data team supporting various initiatives. Primary duties include supporting Moody’s globally with ratings related database extracts. This is accomplished by creating and/or revising SQL queries used for publications, projects and data integrity initiatives based on feedback from individuals in various business units. Creating custom Excel VBA tools that access internal databases manipulate, display and/or summarize information. Support various initiatives that affect the team.

  • Formal training in computer programming. College degree in Computer Science (CS), Information Management (IM), Information Systems (IS) or related discipline. Minor in Business, Finance, Economics, Statistics or Mathematics a plus.
  • Business/Finance/ Economics/ Statistics/ Mathematics or related degree with a minor in CS, IM or IS also acceptable with tangible work experience.
  • Technical Skills: Demonstrated experience with SQL query writing in a relational database environment including complex query writing (Sybase, DB2 or SQL Server preferred). Intermediate knowledge of MS Access; knowledge of ODBC or other data interface APIs. Familiar with ETL tools is a plus. Prior experience with a business intelligence/reporting tool is a plus.
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Excel including demonstrated work with macro writing in Excel using VBA. Knowledge of Microsoft Query as communications mechanism with databases.
    · Candidate must also possess the following qualities:
    - One or more advanced course(s) taken in Database Systems
    - Hands-on experience in SQL query development and query optimization
    - Ability to grasp both business and technical processes and concepts
    - Excellent written/oral communication and interpersonal skills
    - Business analysis experience is a plus.
    - Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
    - Demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
    - Well organized, efficient and detail oriented
    - Strong sense of accountability, and a strong work ethic
    - Ability to research technical aspects and resolve problems with minimal supervision
    - Prior experience with regulatory reporting is a plus.
    The Ratings Delivery and Data group oversees data and technology issues related to ratings support services and regulatory compliance.
