This Oracle DBA Lead position reports to the Director of Database Infrastructure. The position is responsible for delivery, installation, server hardware configuration requirements, design, performance, maintenance, and monitoring of Oracle RDBMS systems. This is a hands-on role where significant participation in build and escalated support (on-call rotation) activities will be expected. As the preponderance of the projects this resource will be supporting are driven from the eastern time zone, the candidate will be expected to work standard ET hours (approximately 06:00-14:00 PT).
 Hands-on database physical build and maintenance of:
o Oracle 10g/11gR2 RDBMS, RAC, CRS, ASM
o Rman Backups & recovery
o Physical and Logical Standbys
o Snapshot / MV Replication / Streams
o Monitoring tools (AWR, Statspack, OS Watcher, Grid, etc.)
o Database Administration and Performance Tuning
o Install and manage Oracle patches
o Scripting PERL, Shell, etc.
o Experience with automation using Chef a plus
 This is a hands-on role where significant participation in build and escalated support activities will be expected, including highly technical problem solving and / or performing technical audits of work done by staff and vendors
 Participates in a team responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of Oracle database servers.
 Acts as a subject matter expert for the Oracle RDBMS and related technologies used within client’s systems infrastructure, as well as a broad knowledge of all technologies used.
 Contributes to the database design and planning process by delivering technical requirements and capacity analysis. Provides technical vision for specific areas of subject matter expertise
 Interfaces with Software Development and Infrastructure teams and others to draft & approve detailed work plans and deployment schedules.
 Will work with vendors to help maintain supported configurations for key platforms.
 Provides input on new and existing processes and procedures based on industry best practices
 Can organize, assemble and lead teams from multiple IT groups, and in some instances, may supervise daily work activities of assigned team(s)
 Acts as a role model and mentor on technical issues
 Demonstrates creative thinking and innovative approaches using multiple technologies and works to clarify technical ambiguity.
 May be asked to participate in hiring and retention decisions
 Some work responsibilities to include compliance activity and reporting on compliance activity.
 Implementing best practices, new technologies, and consistent administration are expected as well as knowledge transfer and mentoring to other DBA team members
 Accountable for creating and maintaining the infrastructure plans and ensuring that implementation of those environments are on time and on budget as well as preparing the weekly status on tasks, issues, defects to the project lead
 Provide direction in Database technologies and disciplines including infrastructure administration, storage and other design, performance, architecture, backup and recovery, BCP architecture, patch administration (including Oracle CPU’s) for Oracle Enterprise RDBMS, monitoring and tools
 Ensure implementation of technical Database technology directions that meets standards and procedures that will optimize database architectures, reliability and performance
 Work closely with Unix/Storage/QA/Performance/Deployment Engineers and Development teams
Must have strong communication skills and a willingness to learn Must be flexible/ may need to be on call ***Will be expected to work standard ET hours (approximately 06:00-14:00 PT). Qualifications  Bachelor’s (or MS) degree in Computer Science, Engineering, MIS  Experience with Oracle DBMS and related technologies that includes: ASM, CRS, Data Guard, High Availability, Snapshot/Replication technologies, performance tuning, partitioning, RMAN, OEM, RAC, statspack, AWR reports, OS Watcher, etc  Experience leading technical team development, Oracle RDBMS implementation  Experienced in designing databases for high transactional OLTP systems and Data Warehouse/Data Store systems  Should be able to translate an Object model/Data Models into highly efficient DB designs  Should have at least 6+ years working on Oracle in high transactional applications and have 24/7 support experience  Should be able to speak to the pros/cons of different Oracle DB usages and make recommendations based on experience  Extensive experienced in tuning and optimizing database & queries working closely with application developers  Proficient in troubleshooting and tuning applications, system configuration and database software parameters.  Proficient architecture and design of physical database structures to achieve large volume throughput and performance  Experience designing and implementing customer facing website applications for high volume and high availability customer sites.  Proficient in PL/SQL coding techniques and performance tuning at the system, application and SQL code levels  Experienced in installation, configuration, troubleshooting Oracle RAC 10g/11gR2  Working knowledge of UNIX/Linux is required (specifically RHEL)  Ability to work effectively in a fast paced implementation environment.  Excellent communication skills.  Team player who has a customer focus and excels at bringing their professionalism and expertise into the information engineering DBA team.
